The benchmark

A Measured Bounce

Built to play at a 35–40 inch bounce — read every morning.

Surface blend

90/10 Rye / Bluegrass

Perennial Ryegrass for pace and recovery, Kentucky Bluegrass for density that holds through a Midwestern summer.

Engineered rootzone

Imported clay, sand, and soil over rounded river rock

A built profile of dura-edge and blended clay and sand, laid over twelve inches of rounded river rock, chosen above crushed gravel to move water freely through summer deluges. The architecture beneath every bounce.

Agronomic stewardship

Maintained in-house to UMass standards

Turf management handled by the club's own team, with USTA evaluators and professional consultants assessing the courts.

Court Construction

How These Courts Were Built

Every practical argument points away from grass — expensive, seasonal, demanding. QCTC built anyway, and did it with material carried a thousand river miles to Moline. The full story runs from the riverbed to the first bounce.
